Honourable Param Satguru Sant Baba Kamail Dass Ji founded the Vivek Mission Charitable Trust Jalal in 1986. After living in a Kacha hut on the outskirts of the village of Jalal in Bathinda, Punjab Baba Ji found that life there was difficult as most people were living under drugs and intoxication. There was no hope for the people, instead they would quarrel with one another and these quarrels would often lead to murder. Life was hell and Baba Ji was extremely affected by this highly poor standard of living.
Baba Ji took steps to uproot drink, drugs and violence in the village by making the people aware of the fatal results their actions would have on not only themselves but their future generations.
After founding Vivek Mission Charitable Trust, Baba Ji handed the responsibility of managing the Trust to Swami Braham Muni Ji Shastri and in 1970, under the Patronage of Baba Ji he had a 200 bed hospital built in Jalal in the memory of Shaheed Naib Singh Gill (Winner Vir Chakara). The hospital was named Vivek Charitable Eye Hospital.
Under the hospital, 180 free eye check-up camps have been launched. Furthermore, around 2,50,000 free eye check-ups have been given to needy patients. These check up’s have been carried out by Padam Shri Awardee Honourable Dr. Dhanwant Singh, a well know eye surgeon of India. In addition to the check-ups, free medication, operations, lenses, and other eye equipment have been given as well as langar.
The Trust has also built another eye hospital in memory of Mata Amar Kaur knows as Mata Amar Kaur Charitable Hospital in Jaitu. This hospital covers 11 acres of land and its main features are:
-
Eye hospital.
-
General hospital.
Eye check-ups and lenses are given free of cost and a highly advanced, imported phaco machine is also available.
Promoting the pious mission of the honourable Baba Ji, another Charitable Eye Hospital has been built in the village of Mallewala District, Faridkot. The Vivek Mission Charitable Trust Jalal started with very humble beginnings and through its humbleness it has grown bigger and stronger, providing free medical care to thousands of people in need. Its missionary branches are on service throughout India.
Keeping in view, the missionary acts of this Trust, the Punjab Government has issued a certificate of Merit to the Trust. President Swami Braham Muni Ji has been awarded a Gold Medal by Government of Punjab, honouring his invaluable contribution to the field of social service activities.
I pray to the Almighty to empower this institution so it can accelerate its social service activities and setup a healthy drug free society.
